A wedding tie is either a necktie, a bow tie, or a cravat that is chosen specifically for a wedding. The color and pattern of the wedding tie are selected to match or coordinate with the wedding's color scheme or theme and are intended to complement the bridal party's wedding attire.
Silk is the most formal wedding necktie fabric and is appropriate for weddings any time of the year. Linen and cotton are popular neckwear fabrics for casual and theme weddings as well as for spring and summer weddings.
A wedding tie is also chosen based on the wedding's dress code and level of formality. For example, a black silk bow tie will be selected for a black tie wedding, while a patterned linen necktie will be appropriate for a casual wedding.
Groomsmen usually wear the same style and color of neckwear to ensure a cohesive look among the wedding party. The groom may choose to wear either the same neckwear as the groomsmen or a different style or color to stand out from the groomsmen.
For added flair, wedding ties may be personalized with monogramming or by choosing unique patterns that coordinate with the wedding theme.
