When you wear a tie, proportion is important. Many men ask how far down you should wear your tie. To ensure proper proportions, the tip of your tie should reach the top of your belt buckle or waistband — no matter which knot you're using.
A tie that's too long or too short will disrupt your overall look. The ties in our Men's Ties collection are available in both 58" and 63" lengths. If you're of average height and weight, a 58" tie should be right for you. If you're tall or heavy, try a 63" tie.

Getting the proportions right when tying a tie takes some practice. Some men walk out the door with the skinny part of the tie hanging down longer than the wide blade. A skimpy tie or one that has the skinny end hanging well past your belt will be out of proportion and can even look silly.
Always check your tie in the mirror before you leave the house to ensure your tie is balanced and tied correctly. If you can't seem to get the balance right, try tying your tie with a simpler knot that requires fewer loops. Complex knots that loop several times require more tie length. Scan through The Tie Bar's ties to find just the right length tie for your body type.
