  • What is The Tie Bar? Who are you?

    Who are we? Who are YOU is the better question!

    We're two former lawyers who got fed up at the idea that you have to pay a fortune for neckties. So we formed The Tie Bar. Our ties have been featured by major media outlets such as CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the Miami Herald and numerous other periodicals and magazines.

    Why? Because we design our own colorful and stylish 100% silk ties, and then sell them for only $15 each. That's right, fifteen bucks for a great silk tie. Don't believe it? Read our Testimonials or the Media Coverage we've received around the world.

    Can I really buy a stylish, high quality necktie for $15?

    How much do your ties retail for?

    Fifteen dollars - duh.

    Actually, ties of this quality typically sell for around $50.00, but we aren't the type to list something at "$49.99," slash out the price, then write in "Sale: $15.00!!!!"

    It's not our style. Just know that you're getting a great tie for only $15.00, and leave it at that.

    What size are your neckties?

    Our standard neckties are 3 3/4 inches wide at the widest spot. The width is consistent with current trends in neckwear.

    The length of our regular ties is about 58 inches. This is the standard necktie length available at most stores and fits most people. The best way to tell is to measure a regular tie that fits you now. If it is around 58 inches, then regular ties from The Tie Bar will fit.

    Remember guys, your necktie should always hang one inch below the waist line. Anything else, and your co-workers will talk about you behind your back (Trust me, we used to do it all the time...)

    How long are your extra long ties?

    About 62 inches, which is pretty standard for extra long ties. If you're 6'2" or taller, we recommend long ties. If you have a big neck, regardless of your height, we recommend long ties.

    If you need longer ties, we recommend going to www.BigShotNeckwear.com, where they carry great silk ties that are 67 inches long.

    If you have long nose or ear hair, we recommend that you get it cut. Immediately.

    What size are your bowties?

    Our bowties are standard 2.5" tall and make a strong knot around your neck. They have an adjustable clasp that can be worn with necks sized 13 3/4" to 18 1/2".

    Are your neckties stain resistant?

    Yes. All of them. Thanks for asking.

    Since I can't feel your ties, can you tell me if they are thin or thick?

    Our ties are not thin. We make all of our neckwear using a thicker interlining and a high concentration of silk, so that the quality remains high. Thicker ties are typically more resiliant and last longer.

    They also are able to make a sturdier and fuller knot, which is what you should be going for, Mr. 1987.

    Are your bowties pre-tied or self-tie?

    Both!

    For all our bowties, you have the option of ordering pre-tied (to make life easier) or self-tie (for those gifted people out there who actually know how to tie a bowtie.) On the order page, simply choose which one option you'd like.

    If only one option is available, it means that the other option has sold out.

    How often do you add new designs?

    We design a new collection six times each year (every other month). Additionally, each month, we restock past designs that sell out quickly after their original release.  So we'll always have new ties for you to choose from!

    I need to buy several ties of the same design. Do you have enough in stock?

    We seem to be quite a popular website for weddings, schools and organizations who are all looking to buy a larger quantity of the same tie. Do we have enough of that design to meet your order? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. To know for sure, we ask that you email us first at info@thetiebar.com to find out. If we don't have enough ties in stock, we'll be happy to make a special order for you.

    Are your testimonials real?

    Yes, sir (or ma'am). Our customers love our ties, and they love to tell us about it. And once you receive your ties (you're ordering, right?), you'll see what $15 can get you.

    Do you sell ascots, cravats or scarves?

    Do you have any kids or boys ties?

    Yes, we have children's ties - and here they are.

    Is my email and credit card information kept confidential and secure?

    We once tried selling your email addresses for $1 million, but no one was interested.

    So now, The Tie Bar does not sell its customers names or addresses. (We're kidding folks - we never have and we never will sell or otherwise give your email address to anyone - not even our mothers).

    However, we do send just one e-mail each month to notify you when new ties are out or if we're running a promotion. But that’s it. Promise.

    And when ordering online, your credit card information is handled electronically with no human contact, and we have paid the good folks at Thawte to insure the security of your credit card information in transit.

    Still, if you're one of those nervous nellies, then just call us, and we'll gladly take your order over the phone. But we're warning you now - the guy who answers has a very unsexy voice. Sorry.

    How long will it take for my ties to be shipped?

    All orders are shipped out the next business day. Weekend orders will be shipped on the following Monday. Shipping times vary depending on which method of shipping you select (see below).

    $7.99. Any size order. Any quantity. No limit. And your shipment will arrive in approximately 2-3 business days after shipping. All shipments are sent the day after they are ordered.

    (3) FedEx Ground

    $7.99. Any size order. Any quantity. No limit. And your shipment will arrive in approximately 1-5 business days after shipping. All shipments are sent the day after they are ordered.

    (4) Fedex 2-day Guaranteed - $20.00

    $19.99. Any size order. Any quantity. No limit. And your shipment will arrive in just 2 business days after shipping. All shipments are sent the day after they are ordered.

    (5) FedEx Standard Overnight

    International Shipping

    Canada

    $19.99. Any size order. Any quantity. No limit. Even if you order 2 ties, 4 pairs of cufflinks and 3 elephants, the shipping cost will be just $19.99 to Canada.

    Your shipment will be sent by FedEx International Priority, and it will take just 2-3 business days to arrive after shipping. All shipments are sent the day after they are ordered.

    All other countries

    $25.99. Any size order. Any quantity. No limit. Even if you order 2 shirts, 7 ties and a jukebox playing 1980's music, the shipping cost will still be just $25.99 to your country.

    Your shipment will be sent by FedEx International Priority, and it will take just 2-5 business days to arrive after shipping. All shipments are sent the day after they are ordered.

    Terms and Conditions for International Shipping

    We can't guarantee that your shipment won't be delayed with your country's Customs Office. It happens every once in a while, and we simply have no control over it.

    Please note that the recipient is solely responsible for payment of customs and import duties, if any. Again, it's out of our hands.

    While we ordinarily ship by FedEx International, we reserve the right to ship by U.S.P.S. when the shipping address given is to a PO Box or is in a remote area of your foreign country that FedEx does not serve.

    If you purchase ties from us for international delivery, but you fail to pay the customs and import duties, then you are implicitly agreeing to allow us to charge your credit card for any amounts owed.

    What is your return policy?

    First and foremost, we want you to be happy.

    So if you are not 100% satisfied with our ties, you may return them for a full refund or exchange them for new ties.* We ship all domestic exchanges to you for free!

    To get the refund, the ties must be unworn, in new condition and postmarked within 14 days of the purchase date. To get an exchange, the ties must be returned within 30 days of the purchase date.

    Please include your receipt, along with a note as to whether you are returning or exchanging. If you are exchanging, please let us know which ties you'd like in exchange and we will send them to you at no additional cost!

    Credit for your return will be issued back onto the credit card that you used. Naturally, we do not refund for any shipping charges.

    We highly recommend that you purchase delivery confirmation. Be sure to include your receipt with the return, and you will receive the exchange or a credit back on the charge card used in the purchase within 3 business days from the day we receive the merchandise.

    *Please note that our return policy does not apply to re-sellers, tie of the month club members, custom or specially-placed orders. Please also note that, due to abuse of our return policy by wedding parties, ties returned which were ordered for wedding parties or any other group (i.e., three or more ties of the same design) will be subject to a 25% restocking fee. Note that there is no re-stocking fee if you are just exchanging for a new design!

    Returns and exchanges for shirts must be within 14 days, unworn, and in the exact same condition as they were purchased (folded and pinned). Any other returns for shirts will not be accepted.

    By law, we are obligated to apply our return policy in a uniform manner, so if you are returning any items, be sure that it is within our 14-day policy. Otherwise, we cannot accept your return.

    Can I get my order gift wrapped?

    They sorta, kinda, in a way already are gift wrapped.

    All of our U.S. orders (not each tie, but the orders) are shipped in an elegant, sturdy white box. All orders arrive handsomely packaged with tissue paper and a sticker – similar to how a department store packages clothing items. If you need extra gift boxes for the ties you ordered, please contact us at 877-888-TIES, and we will be happy to make a special arrangement with you. 

    We also can hand write a personal gift message to the recipient, so long as it isn’t too cheesy. (Note that there is no pricing information in a gift package, so your secret is good with us.)

    How will I know that my order is being processed?

    You will know that your order went through because you will receive a confirmation e-mail message from us at the time the credit card transaction completes.

    If you didn't get this email confirmation, check your spam folder. If it isn't there, then your order didn't process.
