About Us

Back in 2004, two Chicago attorneys (that's us) got fed up at paying a fortune for neckties. So rather than continuing to complain about it, they created The Tie Bar. And they never looked back.

One attorney was responsible for teaching himself neckwear design. One attorney was responsible for teaching herself the retail business. At first, things didn't go so smoothly. Money was lost. Mistakes were made. More money was lost. Bad words were said (words that would make George Carlin blush). But eventually, the designing got better, a first collection was created and the website was launched.

Soon after The Tie Bar's virtual doors opened, its neckties began being featured by major media outlets such as GQ Magazine, NBC-TV, the USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. Since then, numerous other newspapers, television programs, celebrities and fashion magazines have showcased our ties, pocket squares, tie bars and cufflinks, and our popularity continues to grow around the world (and thus, our language around the office has become much more 'G' rated).

We credit our success to our simple business premise - we design our own colorful and stylish neckties (now available in silk, wool and cotton), and then sell them for only $15 each.
